I painted this after hearing a song by Kristin Chenoweth, called "When Angels Land". It was beautiful and I've listened to it several times since. It inspired me to do a painting of angels or spirits, but I didn't want to paint people with wings. To me, personally, that's like saying a museum has a "life-size sculpture of a mermaid". Hmmm.
The phrase “there are angels among us”, metaphorically speaking, has also inspired this painting. Whether it’s friends who support us or the delicacy of nature itself, the “angels” of mercy and truth are part of our everyday life.
I also love the lyrics to the song, Angels Among Us. Subtle and suggesting that we keep our eyes and minds open.
“Oh I believe there are angels among us
Sent down to us from somewhere up above
They come to you and me in our darkest hours
To show us how to live, to teach us how to give
To guide us with the light of love” by Alabama
