December 2024 FOR SALE

$150.00

Did you know that the word “tabby” comes from an old French term “tabis” and the Attabiya district of Baghdad, known for its striped cloth and silk, or striped silk taffeta? Who knew that our common little tabby cats had such a luxurious beginning! Cats with striped coats began being called “tabby’s” in the late 17th century.

This past year, I took in a stray cat who would eventually have five kittens in my back porch. Before finding homes for all of them, I spent nine weeks feeling like a 10 year old girl… having a smile and laughter every day as I watched those kittens grow. Two of them were tabby’s. I called them M&M because of their markings.

I enjoyed doing this painting as I remembered the total cuteness and joy that those kittens brought into my life.
